ON DECEMBER 10th, DNIESTRIA MARKED THE DAY OF HUMAN RIGHTS.

On December 10th 1948, the United Nations Organizations adopted the Universal Declaration of Human rights. This epochal document stipulates that human rights are not prerogative of people of a certain nation, race, or sex but represent a joint property of all men, women, and children on our planet. Each human being has the right for living, freedom, and personal immunity.

On September 22nd 1992, the Supreme Council of the Dniester Moldavian Republic adopted a regulation, the Convention on protection of human rights having become recognized throughout the territory of the Dniester Moldavian Republic.

Giving and interview to the press agency “Olvia-press” and commenting on legal protection of Dniestrins, Piotr Pasat, the DMR Supreme Council deputy and member of committee on legislation, legality, human rights and freedoms reminded that basic international articles, principles, and legal norms regarding protection of civil rights are fixed in the DMR Constitution. In perspective, the Dniestrin parliament plans to start developing the National program of legal elucidation in domain of human rights and freedoms.

Talking about the situation in domain of respecting human rights in the republic Piotr Pasat remarked that destructive policy led by authorities of the neighboring Republic of Moldova against Dniestrians is the most crying fact of their violation. The Moldavian president Vladimir Voronin perfectly understands that the economic and custom blockade started in September 2001 by him against Dniestria first of all stroke a shattering blow not only at enterprises of the republics but also at all people living here. The citizens of Moldova living in Dniestria have also suffered. The republican budget suffered irreparable losses also (in amount of several dozen millions USD), as known it is formed by account of incoming taxes. First of all, it influenced upon social payment: on-going delay of pensions and salaries to budget sphere benefactors.

Piotr Pasat remarked that unfortunately Moldova itself and some members of international organizations were worrying about human rights in Dniestria only regarding example of the famous terrorist group “Buzhor” headed by Ilashku. They saw violation of human rights in the fact that terrorists had been condemned and punished deservedly. And they somehow try to ignore the fact that Voronin started the custom and economic blockade against the people of Dniestria motivating their actions that this is an internal affair of the Republic of Moldova.

Piotr Pasat emphasized that the world community received mainly lopsided and tendentious information about Dniestria from Moldova. He said, “That’s why we invite representatives of legislative and executive power and specialists from any country, studying issues of civil rights and freedoms, to visit our republic for them to receive reliable information on respect of human rights in our republic. We are transparent and have nothing to conceal.

By the way, Piotr Pasat reminded that solid delegations from the Council of Europe and OSCE have visited Dniestria for many times, they have been checking a number of institutions including penitentiary ones but noticed no violation of civil rights and freedoms.

Commenting on complex program in domain of legal elucidation developed in Dniestria, the deputy wished that the ministry of education of the republic had organized lessons on human rights in all educational institutions staring with high schools. He said, “Human rights and freedoms should be elucidated more often and detailed in Dniestrian press for our citizens could receive necessary knowledge in that domain”.
