THE DAY OF TIRASPOL IS DECLARED A DAY-OFF.

Issues of preparation for celebration of the 210th anniversary since the day of foundation of Tiraspol were discussed at the ‘information hour’, carried out on October 1st by the head of Tiraspol state administration Victor Kostyrko together with heads of the town’s enterprises and city council deputies.

As Victor Kostyrko informed, solemn measures would be held during three days – from October 12th till 14th. According to decree of the DMR President, the day of October 14th was declared a day-off in Tiraspol.

Within frames of the Town’s Day, on October 10th and 12th, a tournament of handball will be held, on October 11th-13th in the sports and recovery camp “Olimpiets”, the third international gathering of youth and public associations “Sovremennik-2002” will take place; teams from Dniestria, Belarus, Ukraine, and Russia will participate in the competition. The 100th anniversary of library job will be marked in Tiraspol on October 11th, and it will be timed for the Day of Tiraspol. The same day, the Victory Park and the municipal House of Culture will both mark 55 years.

Besides, it is planned to organize solemn town houses and fairs, concerts of professional and amateur collectives from the town and republic, and also the solemn firework.

As Victor Kostyrko remarked, he appreciated all these actions not just as a holiday having ‘pleasurable character’. By his words, “the foreign guests invited to the holiday will have a brilliant possibility to make sure that despite economic difficulties and problems, for which Moldova is the first to blame, and under conditions of non-recognition Dniestria does not only live, work, and develop, but also cooperates fruitfully with over 70 states of the world”. Tiraspol signed treaties of friendship and cooperation with many towns from the CIS and Europe. Among them, there is Ternopol (Ukraine), Eilenburg (Germany), Minsk (Belarus), Bryansk, Severodvinsk, and Kursk (Russia).

Tiraspol also waits for representatives of other towns from the CIS and Europe to come as guests.
